Japan’s Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba, took office in October 2024. His administration promises major shifts in the deepening of Japan’s alliance with the United States and the strengthening of the country’s military capacities. Territorial disputes and geopolitical tensions with China and South Korea, as well as security concerns regarding North Korea's military capacity and its relationship with Russia, have led the nation's new leadership to take a strong position on its policies.
