A history of the conflict between Israel and Lebanon
The current ceasefire agreement is on shaky ground
LIFESTYLE Israel
A ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah came into effect on November 27, 2024, after 14 months of fighting. However, just a short while after the deal was brokered by France and the US, it is already under threat. Israel has violated the agreement hundreds of times, according to Al Jazeera, continuing to kill residents and blow up buildings in southern Lebanon. Israel has also indicated that its troops may not be withdrawn within the agreed-upon 60 days. There is no mechanism to enforce the terms of the ceasefire as it was made on the US's guarantee that Israel would comply.
