Meet Lucas the adorable spider

Lucas is a spider animation that the internet can't get enough of. Created by Joshua Slice, who has worked on some cartoon favorites such as 'Big Hero 6' and 'Zootopia,' Lucas the Spider will make even the biggest arachnophobes fall in love.

A YouTube sensation, one of Lucas' cutest updates was his spider musical. “When I grow up, I want to be the world’s most musical spider,” he said, before playing a mini piano.

Slice says the inspiration for the adorable spider came from a meme. “I saw a meme of a little jumping spider in a leaf, and it looked really cute. And I thought, I wonder how far you could push that. How cute could you make a spider?” he said in a video for Dodo.

To create Lucas, Slice did all of the 3D design, modeling, rigging, animation, lighting, and rendering. Lucas’s voice, however, came from Slice’s nephew, who is also named Lucas.
