Fans of movie stars have been collecting autographs of their favorite actors and actresses since the advent of cinema. Similarly, famous singers and musicians have been signing their names for admirers since the invention of the phonograph. But celebrity autograph hunting really only took off in the 1930s, at the beginning of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
