'Grey's Anatomy' fans were relieved to have season 19 of the Shonda Rhimes-created medical drama, still with Ellen Pompeo as its lead while it explores modern medicine through the eyes of characters old and new, but season 20 marked the end for Pompeo.
The show follows police investigations and the fight for justice in the city of New York. The show first aired in 1990 and was renewed for a 22nd season in May 2022.
The show has a loyal following and launched Mariska Hargitay, who plays feisty detective Olivia Benson, into TV stardom for 23 seasons, with the 24th starting in September of 2022.
The show, which followed the lives of the residents of LA suburb Knots Landing, ended up running until 1993, with a total of 344 episodes.
'Supernatural' ended its impressive 15-season run in 2020.
Judy Sheindlin, one of daytime TV's biggest and highest-paid stars, ended her popular courtroom series 'Judge Judy' in 2021.

The family behind the infamous reality TV series ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ announced that they will be saying goodbye with their 20th season, airing in 2021. Since 2007, the show has become an international sensation, launching the family’s multimedia empire across fashion, cosmetics, apps, and other TV spin-offs.
The decision to end the show was made by the Kardashian-Jenner clan themselves. They announced in a statement on September 8, 2020: “It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians' … We are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years—through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children.” And indeed, with over more than 250 episodes, the world has seen it all!
The TV series has won, over the years, 22 Emmys, a Golden Globe, four SAG Awards, a Peabody Award, two GLAAD Media Awards, two NAACP Image Awards, six WGA awards, four PGA awards, a Television Critics award, and more wins for individual cast members.
Big news arrived for 'Law & Order' fans on September 28, 2021, as NBC announced that the original series would be revived for a 21st season at the Peacock network. The announcement came 11 years after the police procedural, which first premiered in 1990, went off the air. The reboot picked up where the show left off in 2010, with a closer look at "the police who investigate crime and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders."
Maury Povich's Daytime Emmy-winning syndicated talk show 'Maury,' known for its on-air paternity tests and scandalous relationship confrontations, confirmed its end after 31 seasons.
The series first premiered in 1991 as 'The Maury Povich Show,' and the end now coincides with the host's retirement at an impressive 83 years old, a rep for the series told E! News. "Original episodes will air through September and Maury will air in syndication for the foreseeable future," they said.
Povich himself said in a statement, "Six years ago when I was ready to retire, my NBCUniversal family asked me to continue the show. Even though I told them I was ready for assisted living, out of loyalty to NBCUniversal and my more than 100 staff and crew members, [NBCUniversal Syndication Studios Executive Vice President] Tracie Wilson and I agreed to one more deal." He added, "I'm so proud of my relationship with NBCUniversal and all those who worked on the Maury show but as I occasionally tell my guests on Maury, 'Enough, already!'"
Larry David's beloved improv sitcom 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' was renewed for a 12th season at HBO. The famed show, which has received 51 Emmy nominations in total as of 2022—including Best Comedy Series for nine of its eleven seasons—premiered back in 2000 and aired for eight mostly consecutive seasons until 2011. After a long break, the show returned in 2017, and the 10th season then aired in 2020, and the 11th the following year.
“Larry outdoes himself season after season and always manages to come back when the audience needs him most,” said Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO Programming, as per Variety. “We’re thrilled for him, [producer] Jeff Schaffer, and our phenomenal cast to continue making us laugh and cringe in equal measure.”
“Playing the role of Larry David has been the greatest honor of my life,” David said about his semi-fictionalized starring role. “In researching this multi-faceted, multi-talented man, I discovered that there’s more to him than I ever could have imagined: He speaks six languages, brines his own pickles, and spearheads a national movement to install a bidet in every home. I’ve also been told from numerous sources that he is the most generous of lovers. I am so excited to once again transform into this force of nature. I only pray that I can do him justice.”

After 12 years, 11 seasons, and 177 episodes, beloved zombie series 'The Walking Dead' came to an end. The finale aired on November 20, 2022, and saw many storylines tied up, while many others remained open. That is, of course, because multiple spin-offs have been announced, which meant that every time a character who is slated to star in a new series had their lives in supposed danger on the show, fans knew they'd turn out fine, thus the dramatic tension was cut. Still, the spin-offs are good news for viewers who weren't ready to let go of their favorite characters just yet.
For many people, 'Dr. Phil' has been on the air as long as they can remember, but the long-running daytime talk show, hosted by Dr. Phil McGraw, announced that its 21st season, concluding in 2023, is its last.
"I have been blessed with over 25 wonderful years in daytime television," McGraw said in a statement sent to People. "With this show, we have helped thousands of guests and millions of viewers through everything from addiction and marriage to mental wellness and raising children. This has been an incredible chapter of my life and career, but while I'm moving on from daytime, there is so much more I wish to do." And indeed, McGraw might be done with this particular show, but he has big plans with CBS Media Ventures for a new project expected to launch in 2024. McGraw concluded, "I am compelled to engage with a broader audience because I have grave concerns for the American family, and I am determined to help restore a clarity of purpose as well as our core values."
