Page stars in 'The Umbrella Academy,' a Netflix show shot in Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario.
Page also had a starring role in this 2019 Netflix miniseries. Among the large cast were fellow Canadians Paul Gross (his 'Wilby Wonderful' co-star) and Luke Kirby.
Page and best friend Ian Daniel directed and executive produced this 2019 Canadian documentary focused on "Indigenous and African Nova Scotian women fighting to protect their communities, their land, and their futures," according to IMDb.
In early December 2020, Elliot Page came out as transgender and non-binary. In his coming out post, Page addressed the violent reality of discrimination and hatred against trans people, the brunt of which is felt by those who are Black and Latinx, and vowed to do “everything I can to change this world for the better.”
In his coming out post, he said he couldn't express "how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self." He also expressed his immense gratitude for the support he’s received, but added, "Despite feeling profoundly happy right now and knowing how much privilege I carry, I am also scared ... of the invasiveness, the hate, the 'jokes' and of violence.” But despite the fear, he added, “I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer.”
Page published his memoir entitled 'Pageboy' in June 2023. The book received a lot of approval from critics, and upon release it made its way to the top of The New York Times Best Seller list for Nonfiction. The memoir delves into Page’s personal experiences, such as his relationship with his body, as well as mental health, assault, love, and many more topics that are as relevant as ever.
