Christmas is a time of wreaths, garlands, and a whole lot of lights. Each US state has its own highlights when it comes to Christmas lights, and we've selected a few to show you before the holidays really get going. Get in the Christmas spirit by taking a walk (or drive) through any of these places scattered around the US.

▲New York City steals the spotlight with this suburban light show. Dyker Heights, a neighborhood in Brooklyn, goes above and beyond to bring Christmas cheer. They use lights, displays, and of course, inflatable lawn ornaments.

▲While California isn’t likely to win any awards for the most Christmas-y area, it has its own special charm when it comes to light displays. Right where Oxnard and Lubao Streets meet in LA has been dubbed Candy Cane Lane by the locals. It features homes in full festive fashion, all the way down to fake snow.

▲Baltimore’s 34th Street is more than just a road, it’s a celebration. For more than 70 years, this entire block has decorated its facades with light displays.

▲Clifton Mill gets the full treatment, decked out from top to bottom in strands of lights. But the real highlight is the 100 ft waterfall of lights surrounding the property.

Nothing says a magical time of year quite like the Magic Kingdom. At Walt Disney World in Orlando, there are parades, musical numbers, and of course, lots of lights. Splurge a little to attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and be sure to catch the Osborne Family Spectacle for lights straight out of a fairy tale.

▲Las Vegas is covered in lights all year round, but they step things up a notch for the holidays. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway gets decked out in 400 different light displays, and three million individual lights. The hotels also get into the spirit, filling their lobbies with Christmas cheer.

▲A collaboration between the City of Springfield and a non-profit organization called the Spirit of Springfield sees Forest Park adorned with lights. Displays celebrate Christmas, the US, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa. Boston also offers seasonal attractions.

The Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago surrounds the area with animal-themed light displays to help both parents and children get in the spirit. They also offer wagon rides, ice skating, and occasional nights of unlimited carousel rides.

The Celebration in the Oaks is held at City Park, New Orleans. It boasts hundreds of thousands of lights in the trees. You can also check out the The Cajun Night Before Christmas display here.

Bentleyville is the largest walk-through light display in the US. It is 20 acres and boasts more than 4 million lights.

▲Adairsville has a wonderful Christmas-themed getaway that is perfect for all the family. Head to Barnsley Gardens resort to see their amazing light display. There are over a million bulbs decorating the ruins of the manor.

Not too far away from Nashville lies the Opryland Hotel. It has evolved over the years, and is now essentially its own little Christmas town. In addition to its impressive lights display, they have a unique Nutcracker-themed park entirely made of ice.

▲Richmond has a unique light show. Each year it hosts the official Tacky Lights Tour. Get out your tacky sweaters and join in the fun!

▲Arkansas used to focus on the Osborne Family Spectacle, but after the attraction was moved to Florida, all of the attention is on the state capitol building. The whole building is trimmed in wreaths, garlands, and lights. To add to the festive spirit, school choirs sing here throughout December.

▲Over 40 blocks of bulbs make up Omaha’s Holiday Lights Festival, filling downtown with twinkling lights as far as the eye can see. Walk around the festive atmosphere, or skate around the rink.

▲Pennsylvania’s South 13th Street comes alive during Christmas with some detailed and elaborate light displays. You can drive through the area or take a festive walk. Either way, you’ll get to experience the Miracle of South 13th St.

▲For a more traditional celebration, check out Portsmouth, New Hampshire. They showcase their heritage with old-school carol singers and traditional gingerbread houses.

▲North Pole, Alaska shows its spirit all year round, but things get particularly festive near the holidays. Stop by the decked-out Santa Claus House to see the biggest Santa in the world, then wander around the nearby ice maze, which has ice sculptures and ice slides!

If you're looking for a unique display, head to Telluride, CO. The skier's paradise takes the theme to new heights with a light display featuring a Christmas tree made of skis!

▲Santa Claus, IN has over a mile of lights, making it the largest campground light show in North America.

One of the more unique light shows on the list, Louisville transforms its MEGA Cavern into a 30-minute car ride through Christmas lights. Though if you can’t get there, Lexington has its own charm.
