After Donald Trump’s victory, many US citizens, who oppose the new policies that are about to come in effect once he assumes office, are searching for ways to move to Europe. According to some experts, having Americans relocate to the Old Continent would be beneficial in the long term. One of the main roadblocks on the way to substantially improving the EU’s economy is the lack of tech companies in European countries. In fact, it appears that Europe is exporting all of its tech start-up founders to the US.
Experts think that Europe needs to catch up in terms of technological progress in order to continue championing its democratic values, especially in the age of disinformation being spread and social media algorithms being weaponized to influence voters.
At the same time, attracting great talent doesn’t have to stop at tech. It is likely that many civil servants, professors, journalists, judges, political activists, and so on will soon become subject to the “vengeance and retribution” of the Trump administration, The Guardian writes.
There are already a few countries in Europe that expats find easy to immigrate to. However, Europe could take one step further and introduce special visas for educated Americans to ease the transition, attracting a highly-skilled workforce from the US.
