Forecasters at NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center reported that the sun has been highly active in recent days, triggering a series of events that will result in at least two geomagnetic storms headed for Earth. A strong Geomagnetic Storm Watch has been issued for New Year’s Eve, with the possibility of it extending into January 1.
The aurora borealis is a stunning natural phenomenon that amazes anyone lucky enough to catch a glimpse of it. Science says it is the result of sun particles colliding with the Earth's atmosphere, but Icelandic legends say the magical lights are angels dancing in the sky!
