When we get into our cars, we tend to assume that the greatest danger out there is other drivers. The roads themselves don't usually pose much of a risk. However, TV shows like 'World's Most Dangerous Roads' and 'Ice Road Truckers' have shown that there are certain routes around the world that have a much higher potential to take the lives of bold travelers. These roads are often carved into the sides of mountains, or pass through areas with such extreme weather conditions that drivers truly take their lives into their own hands by choosing to travel that way. They have been proven to have exponentially higher rates of accidents and fatalities, earning them foreboding nicknames.
