Researchers have just announced the discovery of 200 dinosaur footprints in Oxfordshire, England, dating back 166 million years, providing a rare glimpse into the Middle Jurassic Period.
Four of the tracks are attributed to herbivorous dinosaurs, while the fifth belongs to a predator, the Megalosaurus. This is considered the most important discovery of dinosaur footprints in the UK in over 25 years, according to researchers.
The discovery was made by a worker at a quarry in Oxfordshire, who uncovered the footprints using a digger after noticing "unusual bumps" in the ground.
Indeed, paleontology has yielded an incredibly diverse range of ancient dinosaur tracks—astonishing evidence of life that existed on Earth millions of years ago. But where in the world can you admire these fantastic footprints?
Browse this gallery for a journey to a distant past when dinosaurs roamed the land, and find out where you can follow in their footsteps.
