Russell Hotel, Australia - Located in Sydney, there are many myths that this hotel is haunted. According to reports, room number eight is haunted by the ghost of a sailor, who once refused to leave the hotel.

Dr. Holms Hotel, Norway - This hotel is famous for the ghosts which apparently haunt it. Legend says that the spirit of a woman has haunted room 320 ever since she hung herself in the attic in 1926.

Hotel del Coronado, United States - When this resort opened in San Diego in 1888, it was the largest in the world. Both guests and staff have told stories of paranormal activity in this hotel, which is considered one of the spookiest in the US.

Ballygally Castle, Northern Ireland - Built in 1625, the castle is one of the most haunted places in Northern Ireland. Some say it has lots of ghosts, the most popular one being Lady Isobel Shaw, who apparently enjoys knocking on guests' doors.

Banff Springs Hotel, Canada - Built in 1888, this hotel has a haunted room according to Canadian Living magazine. Ghosts of a murdered family apparently inhabit room 873, and there are also stories of a young girl in a wedding dress seen wandering around the building.

Myrtles Plantation, United States - Located in the city of St. Francisville, in Louisiana, this hotel is famous for its spookiness, and offers haunted guided tours to visitors. It was built on a Native American burial ground.

Dalhousie Castle, Scotland - Not far from Edinburgh, this castle was converted into a hotel in 1973. Allegedly, it is haunted by the ghost of Lady Catherine of Dalhousie, who committed suicide there.

Agua Caliente Casino and Hotel, Mexico -

It's rumored that this hotel, situated in Tijuana, is haunted by a singer who poisoned her lover after he stole her money. When she refused to give him the antidote to the poison, he murdered her.

Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, India - This hotel, which is considered one of the most luxurious in India, is located in Bombay. A terrorist attack struck the hotel in 2008, and the ghosts of those who died are said to haunt the hotel.

Karosta Prison, Latvia -

Many hundred to several thousand prisoners are estimated to have died in this jail, which held Nazis and Soviet soldiers. Today it is a hotel where guests are purposefully treated like inmates. Witnesses say paranormal activity has been detected here.

North Kapunda Hotel, Australia - According to various ghost hunters, this hotel is well and truly haunted. It even appeared in the program: 'Haunting: Australia,' which supposedly showed footage of paranormal activity inside this building.

The Shelbourne Dublin, A Renaissance Hotel, Ireland - This hotel, which has over 250 rooms, is believed to be haunted by the ghost of a 17-year-old girl called Mary Masters. She died from cholera there in the 18th century.

Heathman Hotel, United States - This hotel in Portland is supposedly one of the most haunted places in Oregon. Apparently, three of the rooms are more haunted than the others.

The Skirrid Mountain Inn, Wales - This is one of the oldest pubs in Wales, and can be found in the small village of Llanvihangel Crucorney. The first floor of the building was once used as a court, and many criminals were hung there.

Located in Estes Park, Colorado, this is one of the most popular haunted hotels in the world. This is the place which inspired Stephen King's 'The Shining.' There are haunted tours of the hotel, and several shows on paranormal activity have been filmed here.
