Rom-coms have a wide range of characters. There is usually a couple, who obviously encounter some sort of obstacle they must overcome in order to stay together.

But there’s a whole spectrum of characters, each of whom possesses particular traits that are characteristic of specific star signs.

Star signs -

Now, let’s take a look at both female and male examples of rom-com characters who have these characteristics.

Aquarius: Julianne, 'My Best Friend's Wedding' (1997) -

An independent career-focused woman learns her best friend is getting married. She has feelings for him so she does whatever she can to break up the couple. Julianne does so in a determined and somewhat temperamental way, just like an Aquarian would.

Aquarius: Dylan, 'Friends With Benefits' (2011) -

For the Aquarius man, we have Dylan. Things get a bit awkward when he develops feelings for his friend and tries to run away from them in true Aquarian fashion.

Pisces: Andie, 'How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days' (2003) -

Andie is fun and flirty, but she also has trust issues when it comes to her relationship. Not to mention the mood swings—all very Pisces.

Pisces: Patrick, '10 Things I Hate About You' (1999) -

And if you're looking for a Pisces guy, Patrick is your man. Creative, artistic, and compassionate. All this underneath a bad boy persona.

Aries: Stella, 'How Stella Got Her Groove Back' (1998) -

A strong and determined Aries woman is a force to be reckoned with. Stella is also impulsive and passionate, but that's what makes Aries unique, right?

Aries: Nate, 'Someone Great' (2019) -

Nate is the rock his partner needs, an optimistic and enthusiastic guy like an Aries man can be. Like Stella, he can also be a bit short-tempered, which he shows when the relationship comes to an end.

Taurus: Jenna, '13 Going On 30' (2004) -

Jenna might be a bit stubborn and have some difficulty with compromising, but she can certainly take on a challenge. It's not every day that a teenager wakes up as a 30-year-old and knows exactly what to do.

Taurus: Jacob, 'Crazy, Stupid, Love.' (2011) -

If you've watched this movie, you know Jacob is a bit of a womanizer who values the good things in life. He loves his fine dining and puts a lot of thought into his personal aesthetic, as most Taurus men do.

Gemini: Kathleen, 'You've Got Mail' (1998) -

Kathleen is a true Gemini. She initially dislikes Joe, but then ends up falling for him. Classic, right?

This is the only rom-com where both co-stars are good examples of the same star sign.

Cancer: Kat, '10 Things I Hate About You' (1999) -

Kat is this angsty girl with a bit of a moody vibe. But when she falls for Patrick, she opens her heart and demonstrates her loyalty, as a Cancer would.

Cancer: Ben, 'How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days' (2003) -

Ben is the kind of guy who likes the simple pleasures in life, such as spending time with family or kicking it back at the beach. But there is also a competitive and manipulative side to him, which is a Cancer trait.

Leo: Melanie, 'Sweet Home Alabama' (2002) -

A New York City gal with a Southern twang finds herself back in her hometown in Alabama, where she reconnects with her high school sweetheart. Stubborn and a bit self-centered, Melanie also proves she has a big heart, in true Leo fashion.

Leo: Zack, 'She's All That' (1999) -

Zack has a big heart and he shows it in the way he loves Laney. He’s also a genuinely popular guy because of his warm-heartedness. All of these traits are classic Leo.

Virgo: Sasha, 'Always Be My Maybe' (2019) -

Sasha is a hard-working woman with a kind heart. She’s also very determined when it comes to her love life, doing whatever it takes to get the man she wants.

Virgo: Edward, 'Pretty Woman' (1990) -

Richard Gere's character, Edward, is a prime example of a Virgo. He is a great professional, with a strong work ethic. But as Virgos sometimes do, he likes to do everything on his own.

Libra: Sabrina Fairchild, 'Sabrina' (1954) -

Gracious, composed, and a little on the shy side, Sabrina, thinks she has everything under control when it comes to her love life. That is, until, she unexpectedly falls for a man, of course.

Libra: Marcus, 'Always Be My Maybe' (2019) -

Cooperative and diplomatic, Marcus is an overall likable person. He doesn’t risk too much when it comes to his love life, but he eventually finds that Sasha is the right woman for him.

Scorpio: Summer, '500 Days Of Summer' (2009) -

A loyal and supportive friend, Summer, who dated Tom for some time, still ends up being his friend after they call it quits.

Scorpio: Jake, 'Sleeping With Other People' (2015) -

Scorpios are among the most loyal, trustworthy friends one can have, and Jake is no exception. He ends up falling for his best friend, Laney.

Sagittarius: Violet, 'The Five-Year Engagement' (2012) -

Violet has a great sense of humor, though she also has a bit of a problem with keeping her promises sometimes. Both of which are typical Sagittarius traits.

Sagittarius: Daniel Cleaver, 'Bridget Jones's Diary' (2001) -

Like Violet, Daniel also has a bit of a problem with promising more than he can deliver.

Capricorn: Lainey, 'Sleeping With Other People' (2015) -

Being very responsible and disciplined, Lainey tries her best not to fall for Jake so that their friendship is not ruined. It’s a good thing that her self-control weakened, because they end up falling in love.

Capricorn: Tom, 'The Five-Year Engagement' (2012) -

Tom is a patient man who waits a long time after popping the question to Violet, who instead of getting married, chooses to prioritize her career. Of course, he feels a bit left out, but he's not vocal about it, in true Capricorn style.
