Movie posters have been helping promote films since the advent of cinema. The golden era of poster art began in the 1920s, and continued well into the 1970s. It was during this period that the Western achieved the height of its popularity. In fact, some of the earliest posters made publicize cowboy films. Of high artistic merit and created by some of the best designers in the business, these posters were presented in full color, a real bonus when many of the films they represented were made in black and white!
