KiKi Layne and Ari’el Stachel
- 'Don't Worry Darling' had an incredibly dramatic film release with scandal after scandal plaguing its promotion. In September 2022, cast member KiKi Layne shared that her and co-star Ari’el Stachel's scenes were largely cut from the film's final version. “The best thing about #DontWorryDarling is that I was lucky enough to meet Ari’el Stachel,” Layne captioned an Instagram post on September 25. “They cut us from most of the movie, but we thriving in real life.” She added in the hashtags, "#GotMyCheck #GotMyMan #EverythingHappensforaReason."

Fellow cast and crew members commented on Layne’s post in apparent solidarity, including co-star Gemma Chan who left a single heart, and costume designer Arianne Phillips who wrote, "I was witness to your sweet [heart], two special artists whom I respect and adore." Stachel has also spoken out about being cut out of the film, as he shared a TikTok video with himself dancing over a series of tweets criticizing his lack of lines, with the caption, “When you end up on the cutting room floor."

Amber Heard
- During Johnny Depp's defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard which claimed that her 2018 Washington Post op-ed about surviving domestic violence ruined his career and reputation, Heard countersued with the claim that the trial tarnished her reputation and career, including her part in the 'Aquaman' sequel. Heard said that her part as Mera—love interest to Jason Momoa's title character and the female action lead—was "very pared down" and that she had to fight to stay in the franchise as "they didn't want to include me in the film." But on May 24, 2022, Depp's team had Walter Hamada, president of DC Films at Warner Bros., testify via pre-recorded deposition from March, and Hamada said no comments from Depp or his attorneys had an effect on Heard's part—instead, it was a "lack of chemistry" between Heard and Momoa.

Amber Heard
- It should be noted, however, that a petition calling for the removal of Amber Heard from 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,' reached over 4.6 million signatures. Launched in 2020, the petition rocketed during the defamation trial.
The creator of the change.com petition writes that Heard has been "exposed as a as a domestic abuser by Johnny Depp," referencing Depp's lawsuit, and calls out Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment directly to remove Heard from the film, which eventually released in December, 2023, on the grounds that she allegedly "systematically crusaded to ruin Depp in Hollywood, repeating multiple accounts of fake incidents in which she had actually abused Johnny Depp, but lied and created false accounts of him being the abuser."

Actors who've been cut out of movies in post-production
Stars whose scenes were deleted from the final cut

Many actors were cast for movies and shot scenes that ended up being axed from the film's final version. It might have been because their characters and/or plot didn't make much sense in the editing process, or because test audiences didn't like their particular character, or because of a real-life scandal with the actor. Whatever the reason was, the truth is that there are many actors who were left out of film's final theatrical releases.
