Jared Leto took the role of the Joker in the 'S.uicide Squad' movie, but his performance of this iconic character did not go down well. He tried too hard and totally missed the mark, failing to capture the depth and chaos of Heath Ledger's portrayal.

What's worse is that Leto went into full-on method acting for this role and was a nightmare for his co-stars to deal with. He sent a live rat to Margot Robbie, and Will Smith said he was so far gone that he felt he never really met Jared Leto on set. All that for nothing!

Characters who spend most of the movie screaming don't usually win popularity with fans. Shelley Duvall's portrayal of Wendy in 'The Shining' was probably pretty realistic considering the circumstances, but it certainly didn't endear her to audiences.

Despite being the hero, Harry Potter doesn't come off as particularly likeable in the movies. Daniel Radcliffe had to contend with the imaginations of millions of young readers–few would have succeeded.

Willie Scott, 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom' (1984) -

In the second 'Indiana Jones' movie, lead actor Harrison Ford gains a sidekick on his adventure. Willie Scott, a nightclub singer and love interest played by Kate Capshaw, is the high-maintenance, hysterical woman that set feminism back about a decade (okay, perhaps that's an exaggeration).

While her character was probably supposed to be funny, the screaming and complaining didn't go down well with audiences and she wasn't featured again in the following movies.

Samwise Gamgee, 'The Lord of the Rings' film series -

Considering that 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy is around 10 hours in total, Samwise Gamgee's (played by Sean Astin) simpleton sidekick act gets a bit tiresome. There's only so many times someone can complain about being hungry and missing home before the audience loses sympathy.

That being said, the protagonist played by Elijah Woods isn't perfect either. His role as the martyr who must carry the ring and constantly needs others to sacrifice themselves and save him is not endearing.

The 'comedic' duo Skids and Mudflap were introduced into the second 'Transformers' film to add some laughs, but only succeeded in irritating and offending audiences with their exaggerated performances.

Fabienne, 'Pulp Fiction' (1994) -

Fabienne, played by Portuguese actress Maria de Medeiros, is the girlfriend of boxer Butch Coolridge, played by Bruce Willis. She looks and talks like a child, frequently crying or telling pointless stories about blueberry pancakes.

Sean Boswell, 'The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift' (2006) -

'Tokyo Drift' is still considered one of the worst movies of the franchise, which is really saying something. Audiences did not take to the new lead Sean Boswell, played by Lucas Black. The directors went back to Vin Diesel for the next one!

This guy is pining after his best friend’s fiancée and shows up to their house to tell her when he's right there! Andrew Lincoln sure is handsome, but that won't cut it.

Little Nicky, 'Little Nicky' (2000) -

'Little Nicky' is one of Adam Sandler's worst crimes against cinema. He adopted a bizarre persona for this character with an incredibly annoying voice. He also affects a speech impediment, which is offensive if you stop to think about it.

Chris Tucker was probably supposed to provide some comic relief here, but his over the top character was just too much to handle.

Dakota Fanning brings the child's perspective to 'War of the Worlds' by screaming virtually non-stop.

Grandpa Joe was a real sneak. He lies in bed for years letting Charlie’s parents take care of him, but he was able to walk the whole time!

James Marsden plays the cool-guy leader who’s supposed to save the day but in reality just gets in the way of everyone’s favorite character: Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman.

Chris O'Donnell was introduced to the 1995 Batman movie to play the Robin to Val Kilmer's Batman. He was supposed to appeal to a younger audience, but he was just pretentious and immature.

Leo Getz, 'Lethal Weapon 2' (1989) -

Mel Gibson and Danny Glover were the perfect duo in the first 'Lethal Weapon' movie. For some reason, they decided to introduce Joe Pesci as the incredibly annoying Leo Getz for comic relief in the next three movies. No wonder they started to tank!
