Oscars 2020: The biggest snubs and controversies
The talking points of this year's Academy Awards
© Getty Images
With the 92nd Academy Awards just around the corner, social media is awash with discussions of the nominees. Todd Phillips’ ‘Joker’ comes out on top with a whopping 11 nominations. Following closely behind are Sam Mendes’ ‘1917,’ Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Irishman,’ and Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,’ each with an impressive 10 nominations.
Whether one agrees that these films should be the forerunners at this year’s ceremony or not, it cannot be denied that the overall list of nominees is disappointingly non-inclusive. With 19 of 20 acting nominees being white and an all-male list of Best Director nominees, social media is ablaze with criticism of the lack of diversity.
And if you get into some of the other major snubs, there's even more to talk about. Intrigued? Then click on to discover more.
