Unlike "life-changing indicators," like disease rates or other statistics that point to the well-being of a population, foot size doesn't reflect anything in particular about a population.

Due to the lack of significance for governments, shoe sizes aren't tracked or documented in a structured way. Therefore, most data comes from other sources, such as manufacturers and sales numbers.

What can shoe sizes tell us? -

This isn't to say that the data is inaccurate, but that it isn't regulated like other statistics that are considered to be important indicators. However, average foot sizes can imply other factors, such as height, and therefore, nutrition trends.

World record -

The world record for the largest shoe size belongs to a Venezuelan citizen named Jeison Orlando Rodriguez Hernandez. At the age of 20, Hernandez's feet measured 16 inches (40.64 centimeters).

While Hernandez holds the record for the largest shoe size, there is a world record that tops his impressive stompers.

Biggest feet measured -

While Hernandez holds the record for the biggest shoes, the biggest feet ever measured were those of American Robert Wadlow (pictured). His feet measured a whopping 18.5 inches (46.99 centimeters).

Record for women -

American Tanya Herbert holds the record for the largest feet among women, measuring 13 inches (33.02 centimeters).

10. Ukraine (US size 10) -

Let's start with the men. The country with the tenth-largest average foot size in the world is Ukraine.

9. Canada (US size 10) -

Representing one of two North American countries in the top 10, Canadian men hold the ninth-biggest average foot size in the world.

8. Spain (US size 10) -

The only Southern European nation to make the list, Spanish men have the eighth-largest feet in the world.

7. France (US size 10) -

France, known for its exquisite wine and cheese, can now add the seventh-biggest men's foot size to its list of accolades.

6. United Kingdom (US size 10) -

The United Kingdom ranks sixth on the list of largest average men's foot sizes in the world.

5. Turkey (US size 10) -

Turkey is certainly known for its incredible nature and bustling cities. Now, it can boast about being in the top five of the largest men's foot sizes in the world.

4. Russia (US size 10) -

Russian men have long made the list of some of the tallest in the world. It seems suitable that they would occupy one of the top spots for the biggest feet.

3. United States (US size 10) -

Americans are known for doing things bigger than others. In this case, the same rings true for men's foot sizes. American men have the third-largest average foot size in the world.

2. Austria (US size 10.5) -

Austria ranks as one of two German-speaking nations in the top two. Perhaps the key to climbing the eighth-largest mountain in Europe, Grossglockner, is in the feet.

Just like men from the United Kingdom, women in the UK also made the top 10 list of the largest average women's foot sizes.

Turkish women rank ninth on the list of the largest average women's foot sizes in the world.

8. Albania (US size 7) -

Did you know that Albania had the only Muslim king in modern Europe? Another fun fact about the country? Unlike Albanian men, the country's women make the top 10 list for the largest feet.

Home to incredible painter Marc Chagall, the seventh-largest average foot size in the world goes to Belarusian women.

Home to famous composer, Frédéric Chopin, Poland joins the rank among women with some of the biggest feet in the world.
