In February 2023, scientists were very excited to discover an extremely energetic neutrino at the bottom of the Mediterranean. The smallest known particles to exist in the cosmos, neutrinos are referred to as "ghost particles" because they can pass through just about anything. They are very difficult to detect, but when researchers do find a neutrino, it can provide them with valuable information about what is going on in the cosmos.
