The Trump administration has just deported more than 200 Venezuelans who are accused of being members of a gang, despite a court order issued by a judge that prohibited Trump from following through with the decision. The administration justified this unprecedented move by declaring that federal courts don’t have jurisdiction over matters related to foreign affairs that are traditionally overseen by a president.

"A single judge in a single city cannot direct the movements of an aircraft ... full of foreign alien terrorists who were physically expelled from US soil," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said.

The move was condemned by many legal experts, who say the decision was in “open defiance” of the judge, and that it presents a challenge to the independence of the judiciary, a right enshrined in the US Constitution.

Indeed, with so many of Trump’s policies focusing on immigration, many are wondering what impact these measures will have on the US economy and beyond. To find out more, click through the following gallery.
