When addicts are recovering from substance abuse issues, the first step is usually to recover from the physical addiction. Indeed, it is impossible to achieve physical sobriety while still hooked on the substance in question. This will help stabilize their emotions and thereby reduce the risk of them relapsing further down the line.
While the concept of emotional sobriety has its roots in the world of recovery from addiction, its principles are relevant to anyone who wishes to live a more emotionally-regulated life. Curious? Check out this gallery to find out more.
