The phrase "orchid parent" is a relatively new one. It's a term used to describe someone who is a highly sensitive person (HSP) and raising a child. As sensitivity isn't something other people can necessarily see, it might not be obvious to others that you are an HSP. However, those who are might feel a sense of greater attunement—or at times, greater overwhelm—from the parenting of their children.
