With the scheme Enterprise Ireland, the Emerald Isle offers to pay entrepreneurs and small businesses who wish to start companies in their country. You don't have to be Irish to apply, but you do need to have your company registered in Ireland.

Also, with its Our Living Islands scheme, the Irish government is hoping to populate and strengthen its 30 remote islands for an economic boost. To be eligible for the US$87,600 grant, applicants must purchase a house that was built before 1993, but has remained vacant for two years or more.

The town of Kaitangata offers aspiring entrepreneurs around US$165,000 and free housing. Mostly it's because of skill shortage and a population crisis, as the town has a population of only 800.

Via Iceland's startup program, the island nation offers US$50,000 to people looking to start a business in the country.

In an effort to retain more college/university graduates in the western province of Saskatchewan, graduates are offered $10,000 CAD (around US$15,000) in tax returns.

Canada will pay you to live there for 10 years as long as you maintain residency and file taxes. The only catch is that you must have graduated from a post-secondary school on their list of approved institutions.

Albinen, a town in Switzerland, offers US$53,000 for people to relocate there due to a depopulation crisis of just 243 inhabitants. However, you have to be under 45, live in the town for 10 years, and already have Swiss citizenship.

While the US isn't one of the easiest countries to immigrate to, there are many cities that offer great incentives if you're looking to relocate yourself and your family there. Some of the cities include Topeka in Kansas and Rochester in New York.

The island of Sark, part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey in the UK, offers a program called the Sark Society, which provides funding to people who want to move to the island. The relocation program offers up to US$20,000 in funding and a one-year visa.

Despite having one of the best education systems in the world, the UK is currently experiencing a huge shortage of teachers. To fill the shortage, England is offering to pay £10,000 (US$12,699) to teachers who are planning to move there.

Under its Red-White-Red Card Program, Austria offers non-EU/EEA and non-Swiss working citizens a one-year visa along with financial support to move there.

There are several small towns in Italy that will pay you to move there. One is the southern town of Candela, which offers around US$870 for singles and around $2,175 for families to move there. The only catch is that you must move your permanent residence to the southern Italian town, have a job, and invest in a house built before 1991.

And if you're dreaming about living in Sicily, consider the small town of Sambuca di Sicilia. The town is selling homes for only €1 (US$1,09) to boost the population. In return, you must refurbish the run-down home within three years, and provide a €5,000 (US$5,900) security deposit that will be returned when the renovations are complete.

Croatia is currently dealing with population decline in one of its rural towns, Legrad, and as a way to combat that, they're offering homes for around US$0,16. On top of that, they offer a contribution of $4,000 towards renovation costs, with certain eligibility criteria.
