It's safe to say that most inventions come about with pure intentions. Through the scientific method, we as a species have been able to create technology, culture, architecture, and so much more to help us solve the seemingly infinite problems that arise, be it a problem of convenience or one of a more dire essence. Still, there are always opportunities for good ideas to turn bad, and unfortunately, we have also seen numerous examples of such inventions that to this day plague us.
Just as we all make choices we regret, so too do some of the inventors of wildly popular things, even despite the popularity (or, indeed, because of it).
