German ships from WWII have been exposed by drought in the Danube

Every continent is feeling the effects of climate change, more than any other time in history. Last summer Nevada's Lake Mead was in the headlines on an almost monthly basis due to the bizarre and grim discoveries exposed by dropping water levels, but it's not the only spot to offer up fascinating and terrifying treasures. Rivers, lakes, and reservoirs all over the world are pulling back to reveal ancient sites and forgotten pieces of history, some that were likely never meant to be found.
The Danube River that runs through several countries in Europe has been struck by droughts due to persistently high temperatures throughout the summer of 2024. In July and August, dropping water levels revealed German warships from WWII strewn across the river's floor. Nazi ships full of explosives appeared by the river port in the Serbian town of Prahovo over the summer, numbering more than 20. They have been identified as part of Nazi Germany’s Black Sea Fleet, which was sunk by the Soviet Army in 1944. This isn't the first time this has happened, however.
