Riders suspended mid-air for hours when amusement ride in California breaks down
The spinning ride was carrying 22 people when it came to an unexpected stop

On November 18, 22 people on a ride in a California amusement park were suspended for over two hours in midair.
Described as a “thrilling ride … one for the brave”, the Sol Spin ride at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park has six spinning arms that rotate in all directions. However, it came to an unexpected halt at around 2 pm leaving over 20 people suspended in the air until around 4 pm. Whilst none of them were upside down, some were at a sideways angle.
The fault was caused by a technical issue which left the thrillseekers distressed and caused two of them to be taken to hospital. However, this isn’t the first time an accident like this has occurred at an amusement park—and sadly sometimes they can result in the loss of innocent lives.
