They found clay fragments with the words of King Sargon II. The deposed king probably had his words cast into the well by orders of the new king, Nebuchadnezzar II.

The tablet contained Algonquian symbols, drawings of plants, animals, and people. The Algonquian alphabet might have been used by European explorers, trying to communicate in the local language.

In 2014, archaeologists made an unexpected discovery during the excavation of a 9th-century Roman village called Intaranum: the remains of 20 to 30 people in one of the wells.
