Why watching films is good for your mental health

It’s easy to jump to the conclusion that watching movies is a waste of time in that it’s passive. This may be true for some kinds of movies, however, it’s quite rare. Watching movies simply cannot be attributed the same level of passivity as watching Vine compilations on YouTube, for example. Movies can be funny. Movies can be challenging to understand and emotionally moving. Many movies require our undivided attention for hours on end. Indeed, they can be a great form of escape.
