The way humans mate is weird enough, but you will be shocked at how some of these animals mate. It is certainly not all romance. The way males try to impress females differs widely in many species. For example, the spider eats the male, whereas the love bird nurtures him. These mating techniques are all about increasing the efficiency of reproduction so that the animal's population can increase. They do a very good job of it considering how difficult some of the circumstances are!
