There are lots of celebrities out there who have an alter ego. David Bowie was sometimes Ziggy Stardust, and Eminem's alter ego Slim Shady is arguably more famous than the rapper himself. Some celebs even have more than one: Nicki Minaj has multiple alter egos whom she embodies on different occasions, including Roman Zolanski, her evil twin who appears when she's angry. 

It may sound like a gimmick, something celebrities do simply to indulge their own imagination. However, research suggests that there are multiple psychological benefits to be reaped by adopting an alter ego, such as reduced anxiety and increased determination.
