The events of these past few months have brought issues to light that were sadly neglected before. Those who aren't directly affected by marginalization and discrimination are now wondering if they're part of the problem. The hard truth is that you don't need to be a racist to contribute to systemic racism. Millions of people around the world are unknowingly supporting a system that harms others by simply benefiting from the status quo without question.
That's certainly the case for Lori Loughlin's daughter, Olivia Jade, following the college admissions scam. Jade, a social media influencer, asked to appear on Jada Pinkett Smith's show 'Red Table Talk' to address the scandal for the first time. Jada's fellow host, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, took issue with her request to appear on the show, noting: “It's really ironic that she chose three Black women to reach out for her redemption story. “It's bothersome on so many levels," she said, "it's the epitome of white privilege.” And Jade agreed!
