Henry Hudson - This English explorer and navigator was tasked with finding a northerly route to Asia. However the majority of his crew wanted to go home after a tough campaign, and mutinied. To this day it is unknown what happened to Hudson. Some say the crew cast him adrift, while some believe they killed him.

Marvin Clark - One of the most well-known tales of disappearance in the United States. On October 30, 1926, Clark got on a bus in Portland, Oregon to visit his daughter, and was never seen again. His case is the oldest active missing person case in US history.

Raoul Wallenberg - The Swedish architect and diplomat lived in Budapest, and gained notoriety for saving tens of thousands of Jews during World War II. In 1945, the Soviets detained him and he was never seen again. Later the Soviets stated that Wallenberg died from a heart attack. His family, on the other hand, believe he lived for years in Soviet custody.

Felix Moncla - In 1953 the American was a fighter pilot stationed at the Kinross Airbase in Michigan. He was sent to inspect an unidentified aircraft which was in restricted airspace. Both crafts disappeared and Moncla was never found. Ufologists recount the story to this day.

Lionel Crabb - This man was a diver in the British navy. In 1956 he was recruited for a reconnaissance mission on a Soviet ship. He suited up, dived, and was never seen again.

Jim Sullivan - This American singer released two albums but never achieved the fame he had hoped for. In 1975 he went to Mexico and was never seen again. His guitar, clothes, and money were all found in his car.

Glenn Miller - Miller was a music icon in the '30s and '40s, the leader of one of the most popular big bands ever. The bandleader was headed to Europe to entertain American troops during World War II when the plane carrying him disappeared over the English channel due to bad weather. Miller was never seen again, and it is presumed the storm made his plane crash.

Theodosia Burr Alston - The American was the daughter of Aaron Burr, Vice President of the United States. After traveling to Europe, Theodosia headed back to the US aboard the Patriot in 1813. But the boat disappeared and Theodosia was never seen again. Some believe the ship was attacked by pirates.

Boston Corbett - He was one of the men involved in the hunt for John Wilkes Booth, the man who assassinated Abraham Lincoln, eventually killing him. Corbett traveled the United States before disappearing without a trace in 1888.

Charles Kingsford Smith - This Australian pilot enjoyed great popularity during his first years in the air force, and made numerous notable flights. In 1935, when flying from England to Australia, his plane crashed near Myanmar. The wreckage of his plane was found, but his body wasn't.

Heinrich Müller - The head of the Gestapo, and one of the architects of the Holocaust. According to the BBC online edition, he was last seen in Hitler's bunker on the day the Nazi leader took his own life. His fate remains unknown, and he is one of the most important figures of the Nazi regime whose death was never confirmed.

The Springfield 3 - In 1992 Suzanne Streeter, Stacy McCall, and Streeter's mother, Sherrill Levitt, vanished without a trace in Springfield, Missouri. Authorities found no sign of a struggle and their personal belongings were all left behind. The trio's whereabouts has never been discovered.

Mary Celeste - This American ship left New York heading for Genoa in 1872, however it was eventually found near the Azores, Portugal. Nobody was found on board. Even today it is still unknown what happened to the people on board.

Ambrose Bierce - The American journalist, writer, and satirist gained popularity due to his book 'The Devil's Dictionary.' Aged 71, Bierce traveled to Chihuahua, Mexico and was never seen again. Popular theories say he was shot by Mexican revolutionaries, around 1913.

Cheryl Grimmer - In 1970, three-year-old Grimmer disappeared in Australia. The girl was kidnapped off a beach. The case has been unsolved for more than 40 years, but in 2017 a man was detained under suspicion of kidnapping the child. However, the charge against the suspect was dropped in February 2019.

In 1939, he was heading from Hong Kong to San Francisco on an old Chinese boat, however he disappeared during the voyage. In his last communication he said that he was passing through a rough storm.

John Ruffo - In 1998 this American businessman was condemned to 17 years in prison for defrauding various American financial institutions. Ruffo didn't hand himself in to complete his sentence, and was never seen again. He is still wanted by the authorities to this day.

Percy Fawcett - The British explorer became obsessed with finding a lost ancient city he called 'Z,' which supposedly sat somewhere in the Amazon. In 1925 Fawcett journeyed into uncharted Amazon territory with his son and a friend. The three were never heard from again, and are believed to have been killed by natives.

William Cantelo - This 19th-century British inventor is credited with inventing the machine gun. When Cantelo disappeared, his family hired a private investigator who followed his trail to America. His sons believed he assumed a new identity.
