Churros are so addictive, and they can be eaten as a desert or just a snack for those with a sweet tooth.

The good news is that it's really easy to make them at home. This recipe makes about nine portions and you barely need any ingredients.

Origins - The true origin of the churro recipe is slightly controversial. One of the most widely accepted stories says that the recipe was created in Catalonia, Spain, and became popular in the 19th century.

Portugal - Some people also believe that it was actually the Portuguese who invented the churros recipe.

Latin America - Brazil, Uruguay, Mexico and Argentina also have their own versions of churros. Instead of dipping them in chocolate, the delicacy is usually filled with different sauces, depending on the region.

Ingredients - Two spoonfuls of butter or margarine.

Preparation - Heat the water in a pot. Bring down the boil and add the butter and sugar. Stir until all the butter is dissolved. Keep stirring as you slowly add the flour until you have a loose dough.

Preparation - Take the pot off the heat and add the eggs, one by one, until everything is well mixed. At this point the dough should look something like this.

Preparation - Put the dough in a pastry bag with a star pastry tip.

Preparation - Pipe the dough from the pastry bag directly into the hot oil. You can make them as big as you want - just cut the end with a knife or scissors.

Preparation - After they're done, leave them to dry on some kitchen paper. Then roll them in sugar and cinnamon.
