A dry cough is a cough that doesn't bring up any mucus or phlegm like a wet cough does. With a dry cough, you may feel a scratchy or tickling feeling on the back of your throat due to an irritation of nerves in the respiratory tract. This can linger for weeks after you've had a cold or the flu. Other common causes include asthma and exposure to cigarette smoke.
Dry coughs can be very uncomfortable and may occur in both children and adults. There are a number of clinical treatments you can use to alleviate them, but there are also at-home remedies that can be just as effective. Curious? Click on to discover what they are!
