These people are looking for the most bang for their buck, and will ask bartenders to make their drink stronger despite it being nearly an entire cup of liquor. They want to get drunk fast, and they’re probably not going to tip, either.

First created in the late 1800s, the Manhattan has a history, strong taste, and an underlying sweetness. The person who drinks it is often the same—a strong, sensible person with a soft, warm interior. Their biggest downfall might be that they know they're being suave.

This sophisticated drink is balanced, bittersweet, and sophisticated, with a little zest, and its drinkers are typically quite similar. They’re put together and understated, but like to live life on the edge. This is many a bartender's own staple drink, so they’ll likely respect you for ordering it. It's also a surefire way hipsters let people know they have a more experienced palate.

Prosecco -

Prosecco drinkers are as fizzy as their drink, bubbly with the knowledge that they are living a comfy middle-class dream. They enjoy dinner parties and hosting, and if they’re drinking prosecco at a bar they’re probably the kind of person who is happy to stay in their comfort zone no matter what others think.

Cosmopolitan -

Either they just finished bingeing ‘Sex and the City,’ or they want to give off all the glamour and boldness that this famed NYC cocktail holds, which might also mean they’re going to be a pain in the butt.

Moscow mule -

They're a trendy person, someone who appreciates a bespoke lifestyle and likely used to be a vodka-soda person. Now they’re a little older, a little less sweet, and with a little more bite to them, much like the drink itself!

Espresso martini -

Containing caffeine, alcohol, and sugar, the espresso martini is for someone who likes to give 100% to everything they do. They work hard and play hard, and tend to be leaders.

Bloody Mary -

This is the kind of person who allegedly just wants to cure their hangover but really knows they’re going to end up tipsy in the middle of the day. They can trick themselves into thinking they’re being healthy, but they do have a healthy sense of humor.

Margarita -

Either it’s girls’ night or this drinker is a vibrant, outgoing, and energetic person on their own who isn’t afraid to be the center of attention—and may very well be seeking it. It’s apparently also a common drink among older women who want to party like they used to but can’t hold their liquor like they used to.

Whiskey sour -

Dating back to the 1800s, this drink has had many connotations attached to it over the years, and has become representative of a rather adaptable person. It’s also the first drink many young people get fixated on, many of whom never outgrow it, and it's what people usually order when they didn’t really think about what they wanted to order before it was their turn.

These wild ones are about to have a big night. They want energy, and they’re going to get it. Their philosophy is “I’m here for a good time, not a long time.”

They’re drawn to exotic places, names, and flavors, but have yet to actually go anywhere. They’re loud and friendly, but sometimes act like they're on vacation at the wrong moments.

Especially those concerned with the malty flavor or mouthfeel, the IPA is most associated with hipsters in their twenties and bearded dads who want to ask a lot of questions to get chummy with you.

Confident but in an understated way, red wine drinkers prefer quality and don’t feel the need to change for anyone, even if everyone else is drinking cocktails. They're okay drinking alone and usually aren't the loudest of the bunch.

Old fashioned -

They know their whiskey really well and hold fast to the traditional styles, though they are also bold risk takers. That, or they’ve figured out that despite not knowing anything about cocktails they can appear to be knowledgeable with this simple drink.

They went to Cuba or just a summery event and found the mojito so refreshing, and they will continue to order and reorder this drink even after mint season ends. These people are in their own world and thus don’t mind waiting for a busy bartender to muddle their drinks while everyone else stares them down.

These are the talkative social butterflies who are, unlike red wine drinkers, almost always drinking with other people around. If it’s Chardonnay, however, bartenders have noted that it's usually associated with suburban women wanting to get a buzz on to deal with their ongoing divorce while also hoping to encounter a new romance.

They’re probably over 50 and have heart problems, but they know how to negotiate deals, conduct themselves with confidence, and hold a good conversation.

Jack and coke - Keep an eye on this person because they’re most likely going to be starting a fight tonight. They’re likely going through a messy time in their life.

They’re stubborn, loyal, and don't care for any flowery nonsense. They’ve likely been drinking the same beer for years, and, most notably, they also know how to pace themselves and stay in control.

Overly fruity or frozen drinks -

They’re a new drinker, and they’re working their way up from those beloved childhood slushies. That, or they've remained a kid at heart and aren't afraid to satisfy cravings when they hit, with zero fear of judgement.

Stay out of this person’s lane because they are going full speed ahead. On the plus side, they tend to tip well because they’re too buzzed to care about getting change.

These are experienced and educated drinkers who are a little hard to place on a night out. They are mysterious, they’re determined to enjoy themselves but not make a scene, and they usually have their life in order, though they're not keen on too much experimentation.

While the fruity, sweeter daiquiris signal a less experienced palate, the classic Daiquiri is for those young at heart, who are both bold and warm, like famed Daiquiri lover Ernest Hemingway.

These people tend to be the ones who didn’t start drinking until after all their friends had, and they’re still overcompensating for it now. They tend to be a little messy and go overboard, but they’re also enthusiastic people who let their energetic intent occasionally get the best of them.
