On August 20, actress Margaret Qualley shocked fans and fashion critics alike by wearing Chanel barefoot sandals at the premiere of her new film ‘The Dog Stars.’ The footwear features only the heel part of a shoe, displaying a Chanel logo. Meanwhile, the toes and balls of the actress’ feet remained exposed.
Fans were left confused about the sandals, with some of them expressing concerns over practicality. One user wrote on Instagram: "...but what if she has to use a public restroom?!" Some media outlets also humorously pointed out that Qualley’s fashion choice seems to reflect the film’s title, as the actress is seemingly 'letting her dogs out' while wearing the controversial sandals.
The shoes were first introduced in April of this year, when Chanel’s creative director Matthieu Blazy debuted them as part of his new Resort 2027 collection.
