Rihanna and ASAP Rocky, 2023 -

Rihanna and ASAP Rocky slayed the Met Gala carpet in 2023. Rihanna wore a dramatic white Maison Valentino gown with an ivory top of silk roses that covered her torso and head. As the couple climbed the stairs, she lowered the top to reveal her significant baby bump.

At least two different stars took an interesting approach to the theme and chose to honor Lagerfeld's beloved cat, Choupette. Jared Leto donned an incredibly accurate costume, while Doja Cat wore a dazzling hooded gown with cat ears. She even used prosthetics to give herself feline facial features.

In 2022, the theme was 'In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,' with the dress code 'gilded glamor.' Supermodel Gigi Hadid's red Versace ensemble was as voluminous as it was glamorous, featuring a skintight latex jumpsuit under an enormous silk puffer jacket.

Kim Kardashian controversially wore this dress once owned by Marilyn Monroe and borrowed from the Ripley's museum. Monroe famously wore this dress the night she seductively sang 'Happy Birthday' to President John F. Kennedy. Kardashian was accused of damaging the dress but denied the claims.

Kylie Jenner's look that year was equally divisive! She wore this wedding gown designed by the late Virgil Abloh, paired with a backward baseball cap covered in a veil.

The mysterious Swedish couture collector and fashion icon Fredrik Robertsson stood out amongst the arrivals, as he does at every event he attends. He wore this otherworldly jumpsuit designed by friend and collaborator Iris Van Herpen.

However, the show-stopper at the 2022 Met Gala was Blake Lively. The dress code was 'Gilded Glamour' and she really delivered. She arrived in a shimmering copper gown that featured a large bow tied around the hips. The carpet was cleared for her as the bow was undone and revealed a totally different look with a long blue train.
