Country music icon Shania Twain had a surprising moment on the red carpet when she spotted the emerging star Kelsea Ballerini wearing her iconic white gown from the 1999 Grammys. That year, Twain won two awards, and her dress later earned a spot in the Grammy Hall of Fame museum.

Reflecting on that special evening at the Grammys, Twain shared her sentiments: "It was an incredible night for me at the Grammys. That dress represented that experience, so I'm just happy to see it alive again," Twain told ET. "She looks stunning. She looks like an absolute angel. It's very flattering to see her in the dress, and that she even wanted to wear it. I said, 'I hope it's not too dusty after being in the [museum].'"

Ballerini reportedly saw this as an opportunity to pay homage to Twain. She explained, "When I was asked to be a part of it, to honor her, we were just thinking about every possible way that we can highlight every stage of her career."

Ballerini performed at the awards and also paid tribute by recreating the all-black outfit Twain had worn during her performance at the 1999 Grammys.

The 82-year-old costume designer, who drew the design in 1962 for Jean Louis, told Entertainment Weekly of Kim's rewear, "I thought it was a big mistake," in a story published May 16. "[Marilyn] was a goddess. A crazy goddess, but a goddess. She was just fabulous. Nobody photographs like that. And it was done for her. It was designed for her," he argued. "Nobody else should be seen in that dress." The controversy continued, with reports that the dress was damaged following Kim K's use, with signs of stretched fabric and missing crystals.
