The name Stephen King is synonymous with the horror genre. It's the name of one of the world's best-known and best-selling authors, but how did he achieve this while primarily writing within one of the less popular genres? King's exceptional talent for capturing the complexities and darkness of human nature is what set his books apart. In addition to his uniquely twisted and horrifying ideas, he writes his characters with a deep level of empathy that heightens the stakes for the reader. One of the most prolific writers of his generation, King is also prolific with his adaptations. Countless novels by the master of the macabre have been turned into fantastic movies, spreading his influence from literature to film.
