The late Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman is one of the most influential screen figures in cinematic history. Born in 1915, she went on to star in some of Hollywood's most celebrated movies, pictures including 'Casablanca' (1942), 'Gaslight' (1944), and 'Anastasia' (1956). Along the way she secured an astonishing three Academy Awards, two Emmy Awards, a Tony Award, four Golden Globe Awards, and a BAFTA Award. But between her appearances on film, in television, and on stage, Bergman became embroiled in a sensational scandal that nearly derailed her career. She survived the publicity only for illness to ultimately claim her life in 1982, at the relatively young age of 67. Today, her name remains synonymous with Hollywood's golden age and a collection of movies that span genres as diverse as romance, crime, and comedy.
