Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen were the golden couple for more than a decade. The American football star and Brazilian supermodel got married in 2009 and simply glowed together, but rumors of trouble in paradise started to circulate during the summer of 2022. It was soon confirmed that the pair had decided to end their powerful union. They handled the divorce with grace and public messages of support and gratitude for each other. However, there was a great deal of speculation that the breakup was caused by Brady's decision to come out of retirement and return to professional football for a season.

Months later, Bündchen opened up about the divorce for the first time. In a March 22, 2023, interview with Vanity Fair, she vehemently rejected the idea that there was such a simple explanation. “What’s been said is one piece of a much bigger puzzle,” she explained. "I have always cheered for him, and I would continue forever. If there’s one person I want to be the happiest in the world, it’s him, believe me." Bündchen revealed that the couple had been growing apart over several years, and while they still love each other, they had started to want different things. "In order for you to be authentic and truly live the life that you want to live, you have to have somebody who can meet you in the middle, right?" Bündchen went on to compare the end of her marriage to a process of death and rebirth.

Shakira and Gerard Piqué never got married officially, but that didn't make the end of their 12-year partnership in 2022 any less dramatic. It was rumored that Piqué was caught cheating, and he went public with his new 23-year-old girlfriend two months later. Both parties started taking poorly-veiled public jabs at each other. On Valentine's Day, Shakira posted a video of herself lip-syncing along to SZA's song 'Kill Bill.' The lyrics go as follows: "I might kill my ex, not the best idea / His new girlfriend's next, how'd I get here?"

Tyrese Gibson -

Tyrese Gibson and Samantha Lee Gibson married in 2017 and announced their intention to separate in 2020. During their divorce proceedings and custody battle in August of 2022, the R&B singer was ordered to pay his ex-wife US$10,690 per month in child support for their daughter, Soraya. Tyrese's lawyers then filed a petition to remove the presiding judge, Kevin M. Farmer, for alleged prejudice against Tyrese. They provided numerous examples of unprofessional behavior and bias on the part of Judge Farmer, claiming that he told Tyrese in a pre-trial hearing that he had already concluded what the child support payment should be, before the issue was presented in court. The petition also claims that Judge Farmer frequently cut Tyrese off while he was testifying, and even told his lawyer that she "needed to 'put a foot on her client's neck.'" The judge also insinuated that Tyrese hadn't properly paid his taxes, but when Tyrese offered to fly his accountant in to appear in court the following day, Judge Farmer refused and simply walked off the bench. It concludes that, "Because of the unprofessionalism of Judge Farmer," Tyrese would not be able to "get a fair trial in this case."
