Lena Dunham has welcomed her first child with husband Luis Felber, a daughter born via surrogate. The 'Girls' creator, 40, announced the news in an op-ed published by Vogue on September 16, writing that she was “bashful and dizzy with joy” after meeting her baby.
In the publication, Dunham reflected on meeting the surrogate who carried her daughter, describing the experience as the “quickest leap from first coffee to gynecological procedure” she had ever made. She also recalled meeting her daughter, who she said arrived “13 days late, in the face of a solar eclipse and a meteor shower.”
Dunham has previously spoken openly about her struggles with fertility and chronic illness, including endometriosis, and the grief she experienced after undergoing a hysterectomy at 31.
