Celebrities who have done community service
Pete Davidson sentenced to 50 hours community service, traffic school, morgue visit for reckless driving
© Getty Images
When it comes to sentencing for criminal convictions, there are a whole range of sentences for the judge to choose from. They vary in severity according to the seriousness of the crime. And as we've seen with many celebrities over the years, a few days of community service is certainly commonplace.
Thanks to the rule of law, no one is exempt from being charged with a criminal offense and there are some very glamorous celebs who have paid their dues by completing not-so-glamorous community service (although in some cases their assigned activity seemed less like work and more like play...).
Pete Davidson was charged with reckless driving after smashing his car into a Beverly Hills home, and now TMZ reports he has entered a diversion program, meaning he must comply with certain conditions in the next 18 months to be legally in the clear and with no offense on his record.
The 'SNL' alum is required to do 50 hours of community service, 12 hours of traffic school, and he must visit a morgue to receive some education on what happens to victims of reckless drivers. One poetic silver lining for the actor and comedian is that he will be allowed to do his 50 hours at the New York City Fire Dept., where his father, who died in the 9/11 tragedy, had worked.
Check out this gallery to find out which celebs have done community service.
