Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter Zahara has legally removed her famous father’s surname.

A Los Angeles judge approved the 21-year-old’s request on September 28 to change her name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.

Zahara is not the only one of Jolie and Pitt’s six children to distance herself from the Pitt name. Earlier this month, her older brother Maddox, 25, also dropped “Pitt” from his surname, citing personal reasons. Their younger sister Shiloh, 20, legally changed her name to Shiloh Jolie after filing a petition in May 2024. Vivienne, 18, has likewise taken steps to remove “Pitt” from her legal name, and her twin brother, Knox, also omitted his father’s surname from his high school diploma earlier this year.

These decisions reflect a wider trend among celebrity children choosing to carve out their own identities beyond their famous family names. While having a recognizable surname can open doors in the entertainment industry, many stars born into Hollywood dynasties have opted to step away from the advantages and expectations that come with them.
