Red Nose Day, and the stars who support it
Red Nose Day is this March 15
© Getty Images
In 1985, two British comedians founded the charity Comic Relief. A prominent biennial event on British television, Comic Relief gets the public laughing while raising money for good causes in the United Kingdom and around the world.
The highlight of Comic Relief's appeal is Red Nose Day, a campaign with the mission to help children in need and to tackle worldwide poverty. Since its inception, the initiative has seen normally well-adjusted celebrities of sound mind and character make complete and utter fools of themselves after being lured out of their comfort zones by crafty comedians intent on emptying their wallets and those of the general public. And it's worked! To date, Comic Relief and its support appeals have raised in excess of £1 billion (US$1.3 billion approximately).
Who this year will be willing to clown around for charity? Click through this gallery and laugh out loud at these celebrities who've previously worn a red nose for this amazing cause.
