Kanye "Ye" West -

Kanye "Ye" West had his posts deleted from Instagram and Twitter, and both his accounts temporarily restricted, after making comments that violated the platforms' policies. On October 7, the American Jewish Committee called out an Instagram post from Ye in which he insinuated that rapper Diddy, otherwise known as Sean Combs, was being controlled by Jewish people, and all because Diddy called him out for his "White Lives Matter" shirt. 

Having been locked out of Instagram with his post removed, Ye took to Twitter for the first time since 2020, and wrote on October 8 that he was "going death con 3 [sic] On JEWISH PEOPLE,” adding, "The funny thing is I actually can't be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also," and then concluded, “You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda,” without specifying what group he was addressing. The tweet was removed and his account was locked for violating Twitter's policies, which include guidelines against hateful conduct.

Andrew Tate -

The British-American internet personality, and former professional kickboxer and 'Big Brother' contestant, was banned from three major social media sites due to public complaint. The self-promoting “success coach” was booted off Facebook and Instagram for violating rules around dangerous organizations and individuals, a Meta spokesperson told NBC August 19. And TikTok later removed Tate’s account for breaching its policies regarding “content that attacks, threatens, incites violence against, or otherwise dehumanizes an individual or a group” based on attributes including sex, a spokesperson told The Washington Post. 

These bans come after groups have campaigned for Tate's deplatforming due to his truly shocking content which includes statements that younger girls are better partners because they have "been through less d—k" and that if a woman ever accused him of cheating "It’s bang out the machete, boom in her face, and grip her by the neck. Shut up, b—h." In a petition calling for Tate to be banned from social platforms, British advocacy group Hope Not Hate slammed Tate’s “violently misogynist, racist, and homophobic content,” which it said “poses a genuine threat to young people.” 

As for Twitter, Tate had already been permanently banned in 2017 over a thread commenting on Harvey Weinstein's sexual-assault allegations. “If you put yourself in a position to be raped, you must [bear] some responsibility,” Tate wrote, as per the Daily Beast. “I’m not saying it’s OK you got raped."

Mike Lindell -

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, a supporter of former President Donald Trump, was initially banned from Twitter in January 2021 for spreading misinformation about the 2020 election and violating the platform's rules on misinformation and its civic-integrity policy. On May 1, however, Lindell returned to the platform, and just a few hours later was banned again. 

According to Insider, he posted to a new account announcing his return: "Hello everybody, I'M BACK ON TWITTER. My only account is @MikeJLindell! Please RT and FOLLOW to SPREAD THE WORD." It also included a video of himself confirming the authenticity of the account.

About three and a half hours later, the account was permanently suspended for violating the platform's rules on ban evasion. Twitter's ban evasion policy prohibits anyone from trying to evade a previous ban, including by creating a new account. Lindell told Insider Twitter did not give him a reason for the latest ban but called it a "shame" and told Insider, "We need to melt down the voting machines and turn them into prison bars," referencing his own efforts to have voting machines blocked from use in US elections. "Jack Dorsey should be first in line for prison!"

West was suspended from Instagram for 24 hours after directing a racial slur at 'The Daily Show' host Trevor Noah, this after the comedian discussed the rapper's treatment of ex Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend, Pete Davidson. This is not a first for Ye, nor is he the only celebrity member of the repeat offender club.

On January 2, 2022, Twitter permanently banned the personal account of US Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a far-right Republican of Georgia, for repeatedly violating its COVID-19 misinformation policies. The social media platform uses a "strike" system which employs artificial intelligence to identify posts about coronavirus that are misleading enough to cause people harm, meaning Greene's account had already received four strikes and shorter suspensions before being banned.

Donald Trump was famously banned from multiple social media platforms in 2020 and 2021, accused of inciting violence and sharing false information about the presidential elections. He was banned from Facebook and Instagram in January 2021 following the Capitol Riots. The ban was made permanent.
