Unfortunately, Kim Kardashian didn't read the invitation to Tracee Ellis Ross's birthday dinner carefully enough! The reality star apparently assumed that the birthday dinner was also a costume party because it was taking place on Halloween weekend. She went all out dressing up as Mystique from the 'X-Men' movies, which involves turning blue and scaley from head to toe. When Kardashian arrived at Ross's home, she discovered she was the only one in costume! And it wasn't exactly an easy look to scale back... Kardashian posted a photo of herself as Mystique alongside a glamorous Ross dressed in a regular gown with the caption, "That time I showed to a birthday dinner in full costume when it wasn't a costume party!"

On August 31, 2022, 'Clueless' actress Stacey Dash posted a video of herself grieving the death of DMX to social media. The late rapper passed away more than a year ago, so fans found this oddly-timed tribute more than a little bizarre! DMX died of a drug overdose in April of 2021, news which apparently didn't reach Dash. In the tearful video, she reflected on how one of his songs "saved" her many times and what a great man he was. She was genuinely shocked. Singer Tyrese Gibson commented on the video saying, "Ain't no way this is real," while another user wrote, "She was too busy storming the Capitol," referring to Dash's outspoken political views.

Kathy Hilton, 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star and mother of Paris Hilton, appeared on the talk show 'Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen' in August 2022. While playing a game in which she was shown pictures of celebrities and had to identify them, she made a mistake that didn't sit well with viewers. Hilton was shown a photo of pop superstar Lizzo, but identified her as "Precious." She was presumably referring to the character played by actress Gabourey Sidibe in the 2009 Oscar-winning drama of the same name. Her host and fellow guests were at a loss for words, and the moment quickly went viral. While some found her ignorance laughable, many called her fatphobic and racist for mixing up two plus-sized Black women who look completely different.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene made an embarrassing mistake on live TV in February 2022 when she confused Nazi Germany's secret police with a cold Spanish soup. Greene appeared on One America News to speak about Nancy Pelosi. She was referring to Gates's suggestion that wealthy countries could subsist on synthetic meat to help the climate crisis, and clearly meant to say petri dish rather than peach tree dish. The video was viewed over a million times within a matter of days as social media users ridiculed the controversial politician.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham was interviewing contributor Raymond Arroyo who, while discussing "woke storylines," brought up an episode of the show 'You' that mentioned measles. But Ingraham immediately thought he was talking about her. "Wait, when did I mention measles?" she asked with a confused look on her face. Arroyo told her it was on 'You,' and she replied, "What was on me? What are you talking about? I never had the measles!" Janet Jackson questions Kamala Harris' racial identity in disastrous interview

In a recent interview with the Guardian, Janet Jackson was asked about her thoughts on the upcoming election and the possibility of Kamala Harris becoming the first Black female president. "Well, you know what they supposedly said?" Jackson replied. "She’s not Black. That’s what I heard. That she’s Indian." When the interviewer informed her that Harris is of mixed Black and Indian heritage, Jackson incorrectly said, "Her father’s white. That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days. I was told that they discovered her father was white." These false statements echo the misinformation spread by Donald Trump and the far right, who seemingly wish to spread doubt about Harris' racial background. In August, Trump made offensive comments on the subject in an interview, saying, “I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black…Is she Indian or is she Black?”

Adding another level of strange to the situation, a public apology was issued on Jackson's behalf by a man claiming to be her manager, but it later turned out that he had tenuous connections to her at best. An official statement or apology has yet to be made.
