Doug Martin, the two-time Pro Bowl running back who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Oakland Raiders, has died at the age of 36, his family shared on October 18. The cause of death has not been confirmed yet.

Martin played his first six seasons in the NFL with the Buccaneers, rushing for 4,633 yards and 30 touchdowns while also catching 130 passes for 1,091 yards and two touchdowns. He earned All-Pro honors in 2015 and was selected to two Pro Bowls during his career. He also played for the Oakland Raiders.

Indeed, the life of an athlete can be fast and furious. They typically start young and quickly prove themselves at a national, and even international, level. While sometimes this leads to fame and an impressive career, unfortunately not all athletes make it that far.
