Confusing the current president -

In March 2024, during a campaign rally in Richmond, Virginia, his supporters went silent after Trump confused current President Joe Biden with former President Barack Obama. “Shortly after we win the presidency, I will have the horrible war between Russia and Ukraine settled. I know them both very well, and we will restore peace through strength. Get that war settled. It’s a bad war. And Putin has so little respect for Obama that he’s starting to throw around the nuclear word.”

Confusing candidates -

On May 1 at a rally in Nebraska, Trump appeared to mix up the names of two candidates running for Senate in Ohio in a closely contested GOP primary set for May 3. "We've endorsed Dr. Oz. We've endorsed JP, right? JD Mandel, and he's doing great. They're all doing good," he said, combining the names of Josh Mandel and JD Vance, the latter of whom he actually endorsed. A few moments later, as he continued to talk about his endorsements, Trump added: "I think Vance is doing well." It was just the weekend prior that he appeared with Vance at a rally in Delaware, Ohio.

Fumble -

Following the Kansas City Chiefs' victory over the San Francisco 49ers during the Super Bowl, Trump took to Twitter to congratulate the winning team for representing the "Great State of Kansas." The only problem is that the Kansas City Chiefs are based in the state of Missouri. The tweet was quickly taken down, but it was too late, as it had already been immortalized on the Internet.

409K? -

Pointing to gains in the stock market, Trump asked Twitter users how their "409K's" were doing. Of course, he meant their "401(k)" retirement funds.

Misspelling his own wife's name - After Melania Trump underwent kidney surgery that had her hospital-bound for five nights, Trump took to Twitter to officially welcome her home. This could have been a sweet move, except that he called her "Melanie," as reported by the Guardian.

Covfefe - This one became an instant classic. When Donald Trump ended a tweet with this code-like word back in May 2017, he caused quite the stir on the Internet. To this day, no one knows exactly what "covfefe" means.

During his Iran deal speech - "It is appropriate and proportionate to measure—and other measures taken by Iran to terminate its illicit nuclear program." Commemorating African-American History Month - "Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who's done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more, I notice." Trump insinuated that Douglass, a well-known abolitionist who was born a slave, was still alive. He died in 1895.

Trump forgot to place his hand on his heart while the National Anthem was being played. As The Independent pointed out, Melania Trump had to remind him to do so.

Welcoming Representative Steve Scalise back to Capitol Hill - House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was hospitalized for months after getting shot and when he returned to the Capitol, Trump welcomed him with a joke, naturally: "It’s a hell of a way to lose weight, Steve."

At the Boy Scout jamboree - After ranting for a while about real-estate developer William Levitt, the US President told the audience that Levitt engaged in "interesting activities" on his yacht. "I won’t go anymore than that because you're Boy Scouts, so I’m not going to tell you what he did," Trump said. "Should I tell you? Should I tell you?" Parents would strongly disagree, as the BBC reported.

Meeting Angela Merkel - When the US President met German Chancellor Angela Merkel for the first time, he tried to break the ice by making a very indelicate joke about them both having been wiretapped by President Obama. She looked slightly baffled, as shown by the Guardian.

On Robert Mueller - Trump's nemesis Robert Mueller was appointed the Special Counsel for the Department of Justice. But the US President seems to struggle with getting Mueller's title right, since he spelled Special Council (three times) in a tweet. Of course, Merriam-Webster didn't forgive the mistake—they made sure to explain the difference between the two words to the entire Twittersphere.

Unpresidented vs unprecedented - One of Trump's most infamous Twitter typos happened when he described China seizing a US Navy drone as an "unpresidented" act. He then corrected it to "unprecedented," because the Internet has no chill.
