It's not so easy being a public figure, with all eyes on you at all times. Your private walks are full of paparazzi, and personal relationships become public interest. It's especially concerning if you slip-up, literally, by fainting or collapsing in public.
When a celebrity has a sudden health emergency, it often becomes major news, but sometimes, we only find out after the fact. Supermodel Brooke Shields recently revealed that she suffered from a grand mal seizure in public in September. The 58-year-old model and actress had left her home in New York and was on her way to perform her solo show, 'Previously Owned by Brooke Shields.' She told Glamour that passersby noticed she looked unwell while she waited for her Uber and asked her if she was OK but she reassured them she was fine. She then remembers walking into a restaurant where she was approached by concerned staff. "Everything starts to go black. Then my hands drop to my side and I go headfirst into the wall," Shields recalled. She had reportedly collapsed and had a seizure, experiencing symptoms like frothing at the mouth, trying to swallow her tongue, and turning blue.
"The next thing I remember, I'm being loaded into an ambulance. I have oxygen on," she continued. Actor Bradley Cooper ended up accompanying her to the hospital, where she was told that she had experienced a grand mal seizure due to low sodium levels caused by drinking too much water. "I flooded my system, and I drowned myself. And if you don't have enough sodium in your blood or urine or your body, you can have a seizure," she explained.
